Wedding Elopement captured on Film

Wow, what a breathtaking elopement at the stunning Oeschinen Lake in the Swiss mountains! I was immediately captivated when I received Leyre and Juan‘s request. Leyre, herself a talented photographer, works between Spain and New York. (How cool is that?) They wanted to „elope“ in Switzerland and celebrate in Spain a few months later. After some research, with my assistance to the best of my abilities, they chose Oeschinensee as their elopement location. They adore the Swiss mountains, and the beautiful blue Oeschinen Lake had truly fascinated them. We reserved three days to ensure the most beautiful conditions, a wise precaution given the previous week‘s rainy weather. Opting for the most beautiful day, we were rewarded with gorgeous sunshine and a breathtaking sunset. Here you will see the Elopement captured on digital photos.

Choosing a weekday to minimize other tourists at the incredibly famous Oeschinensee, they stayed at Hotel Ermitage in Kandersteg, conveniently located next to the gondola station taking us to the lake. The adventure started in the afternoon with capturing Leyre and Juan‘s „Getting Ready.“ Leyre‘s dress and the details like vows, rings, and flowers were thoughtfully curated. They got ready separately and then had a First Look outside, a short walk away. Juan awaited Leyre on a vast meadow with a mountain backdrop. Capturing Leyre‘s joy and Juan‘s surprise was the best – simply unique! (:

Then, we took the last gondola up to Oeschinensee. After a 20-minute walk to the lake, we stopped every few meters to take photos – simply WOW! So many beautiful spots, I could have taken photos forever. Initially, a few people passed us, rushing to catch the last gondola downhill. But soon, we were alone, savoring the peace and nature. Arriving at the lake was challenging; we had to hike for another 40 minutes to reach a beautiful vantage point. Since we were running a bit late, we raced up the mountain so Leyre and Juan could read their vows in the most beautiful sunset light. Everything around us became even more stunning with the evening sun. We truly caught an incredibly amazing day!

Upon reaching the viewpoint, we found the best spot with a fantastic view of the lake. The couple took their time to savor this moment, reading their vows in Spanish, and it was very emotional. I captured it all with bated breath as the mountains turned more orange with the sunset. Of course, champagne couldn‘t be missing to celebrate the commitment. (; As it slowly got dark, we brought out the petroleum lamps for a few photos – I absolutely love them! (Let me know if you want them for your shoot too.) The day was truly coming to an end, and we still had the descent ahead. We not only hiked back to the lake but all the way down to the village of Kandersteg. I enjoyed chatting with the couple and only slipped and fell once – quite awkwardly, haha. Well, whatever, right? (‘: What an amazing elopement in the Swiss mountains, wow! Leyre and Juan, thank you so much for your trust!!
