Blausee Switzerland Photography

Woohoo! The winners of the Instagram Adventure Photoshoot giveaway by a videographer friend and me joined us for an unforgettable photography couple session at the stunning Blausee in the Bernese Highlands in Switzerland on a snowy December day.

It was super cold, icy, and breathtakingly beautiful! It was absolutely worth leaving the warm house for two hours to capture photos and video of this lovely couple. Thank you for your flexibility, for participating in our giveaway, and for braving the cold without hesitation! (:

The four of us strolled around the Blausee, stopping here and there to take photos and videos. It was incredibly icy, and at times we had to hold onto the railings for dear life. But hey, that’s part of an adventure shoot, right? The snow was stunning and really made me appreciate winter—which says a lot since I’m not exactly a winter person, haha. Lara and Yannick didn’t let the cold faze them at all and looked absolutely amazing.

I borrowed a tilt-shift lens from Phil Wenger to create some artsy, out-of-focus shots. Using this lens is always a bit of a gamble because it doesn’t have autofocus, but it’s so rewarding when it works out! (:

The Blausee is absolutely worth a visit—whether for a photoshoot or just for fun. The entrance fee is 10–12 CHF per person, and there’s parking available. Personally, I find the Blausee especially beautiful in winter, when everything is covered in snow but the lake hasn’t frozen over yet, and it shimmers a deep blue. The loop around the lake is only about 10 minutes, so it’s very manageable. There’s also a lovely restaurant where you can relax and enjoy the view.

Some helpful information about doing a photoshoot at Blausee

How much does a photoshoot at the Blausee cost?

For a photoshoot at the Blausee, I charge my standard rate for a 1–1.5-hour session. The fixed price is 580 CHF plus travel expenses. I’d be happy to help you calculate the travel costs. The price includes planning, the session itself, and all pre- and post-production work, including the careful editing of your images. For detailed pricing information, feel free to reach out via my contact form.

Can you help us choose outfits for a photoshoot?

Of course! I’ll send you a “What to Wear Guide” packed with tips and tricks. It’s important to me that you feel super comfortable and beautiful while staying true to yourselves in your outfit choices. (: Coordinating your outfits is key to creating cohesive and harmonious photos. All the details are covered in the guide.

What should we wear for a winter couple photoshoot?

Cozy sweaters, scarves, and hats add warmth and charm to your look. Winter jackets in neutral or muted tones blend beautifully with snowy landscapes. Don’t forget warm boots or shoes, especially if we’ll be outdoors in the snow. Be sure to wear thermal layers and bring something to warm up with during breaks—you don’t want to freeze! (: I’ll bring hot tea to keep you warm. Gloves and hand warmers are also great to keep your hands cozy.

Timing and duration of the photoshoot

Wondering about the timing of your shoot? Don’t worry—we’ll take all the time we need to create amazing images. I recommend early mornings or late afternoons to capture the most beautiful natural light. A typical couple’s photoshoot lasts about 1 to 1.5 hours. If we have creative ideas or a specific location that inspires us, we’ll take our time to make it perfect. Let’s make sure to capture your best moments, stress-free. (:
