Grindelwald Wedding Photography

This lovely after wedding photography session with Sook Ling and David was not turning out like we have planned in the beginning haha.. The hopes were high to have a beautiful late summer day in September and take some stunning wedding photos with the beautiful Swiss Alps at the famous village Grindelwald in Switzerland. The weather had other plans and gave us a chilly and moody day instead. But this didn’t keep us from taking some lovely photos exploring the sights we got. We did take photos digital and on film too. Which I love so much. (: We did warm up a lot in between and they were lucky that they did bring their warm jackets to the photoshoot. Which I always recommend to bring layers because you never know what you will get in the Mountains of Switzerland. (:

FAQ: Wedding Photography in Grindelwald

If you would like to get your photos taken in Grindelwald I highly recommend to book a picnic by the local catering business of Marlies. She has connections with the farmers so you can go off the path and enjoy a breath taking experience. This is how it will look.

1. How does the weather and season affect wedding photos in Grindelwald?
Summer in Grindelwald is a dream for after wedding photos. The warm, golden light highlights the lush green meadows, dramatic mountain peaks, and picturesque alpine villages, creating breathtaking backdrops for your session.

While summer weather in Grindelwald is generally pleasant, it’s wise to prepare for sudden changes. I recommend bringing a light jacket or shawl for cooler mountain breezes and sunscreen to stay protected. Morning or late-afternoon sessions are ideal for capturing the softest and most flattering light while avoiding the harsh midday sun.

2. What should we wear for an after wedding photoshoot in Grindelwald?
This is the perfect opportunity to re-wear your wedding attire while embracing Grindelwald’s alpine charm. Here are a few tips to enhance your look:

  • For the bride: A flowing wedding dress will beautifully complement the mountain breeze. You can add a lightweight shawl, floral accessory, or even a pair of hiking boots for a playful touch.
  • For the groom: A classic suit or blazer in neutral or earthy tones like grey or beige pairs wonderfully with the mountain scenery.
  • Footwear: Comfortable shoes are a must for walking on rocky or grassy paths. Bring dress shoes for photos and hiking boots for any adventurous shots.

3. Why should we do an after wedding photoshoot in Grindelwald?
An after wedding session in Grindelwald offers a relaxed, intimate experience in one of Switzerland’s most breathtaking locations. Without the time constraints of your wedding day, you can immerse yourselves in the beauty of the Alps and capture truly magical moments together.

Grindelwald provides:

  • Panoramic views of majestic mountain peaks.
  • Romantic and serene alpine settings.
  • Endless photo opportunities, from wildflower-filled meadows to charming Swiss chalets.

It’s a chance to relive the joy of your wedding day while exploring an unforgettable landscape.

4. What makes Grindelwald a great location for an after wedding shoot?
Grindelwald’s unique mix of dramatic mountain vistas, rolling meadows, and cozy village charm makes it an extraordinary destination for after wedding photos. Some of my favorite spots include:

  • Alpine meadows: Perfect for capturing romantic moments surrounded by wildflowers and towering peaks.
  • Mountain trails: For adventurous shots with breathtaking views.
  • Rustic chalets and village streets: Ideal for adding a touch of Swiss tradition to your photos.

These locations are often quieter, giving you the space and freedom to enjoy the moment and create unforgettable memories.
