As soon as John reached out to me via my contact form and I read his E-Mail I knew: It’s going to be freaking amazing and I was so excited about his plan to propose at Lake Oeschinen in the Swiss Alps. He even did make a really cool looking inspiration board about colors, views and so on. He wanted those nostalgic and cinematic vibes which I really try to pursue with my photography. So basically it was a match from the first minute on haha. We started to plan the proposal in detail by picking a date, time and a location. We decided on doing a hiking proposal session so we would be high up with a stunning view down to Lake Oeschinen. Also highly recommend this to get away from the big crowd! (: I did a lot of google earth search to find the perfect spots. I have been to the lake several times but never to this lockout we chose so I tried to prep as good as I could. Then the day arrived and I hiked up early to have time to check out the place we decided on and that I could walk slowly because my hiking legs haven’t been going strong lately haha. When I hiked up the weather couldn’t decide how it would like to be. I had sun, rain and fog hiking up to the viewpoint of Lake Oeschinen. I reaaallyyy hoped that the view would clear up for the proposal. In the Swiss Mountains you never know what you will get. It can be foggy and no view at all and then 10 minutes later the wind did blew all the clouds away and it’s a sunny summer day again. As I arrived at the viewpoint it hit me: I saw John and Maria already sitting on the bench and I was like: wtf, I arrived 1.5hrs early and they are already here? (They hiked the wrong direction haha) John then spotted me and secretly sneaked over to me to make a little game plan. We decided to do the proposal right now since it was raining a bit and too cold if they don’t move soon. So unfortunately we did the proposal just 10 min too early, it was crazy foggy haha. But they really took it with humor and I was just SO happy that the view did clear up and the rain did stop after some minutes. John and Maria were the sweetest and most fun couple. We laughed so much and they were down for every idea I had in mind. And I also loved their ideas and creatives minds! We wandered around together with some foggy and some clear views. After some time we hiked down together just to stop at every corner to take some more photos. John also added some film photos to the proposal package and I loooved to take them. So so unique to fill up a film roll and have those grainy nostalgic photos of such a special day like this. Thank you again a thousand times John and Maria for your trust and your flexibility despite the weather! Wish you all the best you are amazing!

Think cozy and practical! Warm sweaters, scarves, and hats will keep you comfortable and stylish. Neutral or earth-toned winter jackets blend beautifully with the snow-covered alpine scenery. Sturdy boots are a must, especially if we explore off the beaten path. Layer up with thermals and bring extra items to warm up during breaks. I’ll even bring hot tea to keep you cozy! Don’t forget gloves and hand warmers—they’re small but make a big difference.

No worries at all! If it rains or snows, we’ll adapt and find alternative options. Lake Oeschinen is stunning in all weather, and clouds or light rain can create dramatic, moody photos. If necessary, we can also find sheltered spots or reschedule. Clear skies and sunshine are always a bonus, but sometimes the unexpected makes for the most memorable images. (:
