I am absolutely fascinated by Switzerland and its various cantons. Each canton is unique and beautiful. The canton of Valais (Wallis in German) particularly captivates me because of its consistently beautiful weather, mountain chalets made of dark wood, and, of course, the stunning mountains themselves. That‘s why I decided to plan an elopement styled shoot in the Swiss mountains in Valais as inspiration for my future elopement couples. I collaborated with various fantastic service providers whom I genuinely recommend from the bottom of my heart for your elopement in Valais (see links below).
During my planning, I found a beautiful Airbnb with an incredibly stunning view. Especially for an elopement, I find the option of renting an Airbnb very practical. You have a retreat to get ready, can enjoy the time together before and after the elopement in peace, and you have the „location“ all to yourselves. Additionally, it is usually more cost-effective than renting a hotel.
My vision for this elopement styled shoot was for Maja and Pete to share a getting ready experience. I took inspiration from this idea years ago from another elopement. I found it incredibly romantic and beautiful that Pete and Maja helped each other with their shoes or that Pete assisted Maja in putting on her dress. The putting on of jewelry was also an essential part of this. I loved capturing the love between them in their eyes, especially during these special moments of getting ready.
Meanwhile, a beautiful flower setting was prepared near the mountain chalet for the wedding ceremony. The two exchanged their vows, and some (real ;)) tears were shed. It was touching to capture these intimate moments, and the view of a Valais valley with the sun slowly setting behind the mountains was just breathtaking!
After exchanging rings, a cozy aperitif was a must. They toasted with delicious Valais wine, and a small table setting with comfortable cushions was ready for the two. I always strongly recommend taking time for each other on the elopement day, without the photographer. Even if it‘s just a few minutes. You should simply have time to perceive and fully enjoy each other and the moment. A picnic or aperitif is a good opportunity for that.
As the sun disappeared behind the mountains, we took the time to capture individual and couple photos. How stunning did Maja look in her dress?! Well, yes, both of them looked absolutely stunning! It was my absolute photographer‘s dream! (: From various angles, I captured the two and the beautiful landscape with my camera. It was an incredibly beautiful evening atmosphere.
To conclude, we returned to the charming Valais Airbnb chalet to take a few more pictures. I loved being creative with Maja & Pete, and I immediately embraced them in my heart. Yep, so much so that we have become good friends since that day, and even better: we now work as a team because they have become my wedding videographers, what?!
