Swiss Alps Elopement

Swiss Alps Elopement

Well, it’s quite a story how Talia and Brad ended up Eloping at the Swiss Alps. (: Somehow we connected over Instagram and I was a huge fan of their film photos they did when they were traveling to Switzerland a year ago. I also saw that they are coming back in summer and got really excited. They seemed to be such a cool couple so I asked them if they would love to do a Couple Session with me in the Mountains. They were immediately excited for it so we did write back and forth about it. We had so much in common with our love to crave doing creative things that we somehow ended up writing about their wedding plans. They got engaged back in Lauterbrunnen Switzerland but haven’t started to plan a wedding yet because it’s just expensive let’s be honest .. (: So I asked them if eloping in the Swiss Alps this summer would be an option. And they said YES, I couldn’t believe and was sooo happy to have the honor to capture this day. Together we planned a full day adventure: Starting at Meiringen at their stay with a cozy pancake kinda morning. Having fun, bake some pancakes and getting the day started the right way. (: In the afternoon we headed out to Rosenlaui which is a beautiful location nestled in the Swiss Alps of the Bernese Highlands. It’s still a not so well known treasure and I love to capture my couples there. Talia and Brad sat down in the meadow and wrote their vows back to back to each other. Enjoying some sun and the mountain air and their love to each other. It was so peaceful and lovely I loved it so much. After all the promises have been written down they collected some flowers for her bouquet for later. There have not been many flowers haha but it was just right. (: Finally we headed out to the final location to elope! We drove all the way up to the most stunning Mountain Lake in Switzerland. I was there for the first time and fell in love! A treasure of a place, not so well known and reachable with the car. Perfect!! Although it was a warm summer night almost nobody was up there and we had the place mostly to ourselves. Talia and Brad got changed and ready in nature and had their emotional and sweet first look. Right there and then they read their vows to each other and exchanged their rings and some tears were shed. Of course we had also to take some film photos with their film camera of those moments. We explored the Swiss Mountain lake together and I felt like I was in Scotland! So cinematic and epic. Just wow! This day really brought out every inch of creativity in me and I loved that Talia and Brad trusted me so much. This really frees me to be so creative and do all the things I’ve ever wanted to try. (: As it was getting dark we headed back and spontaneously stopped at a fancy old gas station on our way back to the hotel. I took out my flash and we did some fun editorial vibe photos. I was crying tears of joy because of this day. So much fun, so many beautiful moments and such beautiful and lovely people. A perfect Elopement day in the Swiss Alps. Thank you so much Talia & Brad for trusting me with this.

Elopement FAQ’s

What is the difference between a traditional wedding and an elopement?
Answer: An elopement is a more intimate and often spontaneous celebration, usually with no guests or just a few close ones, taking place at a special location. Unlike a traditional wedding, the focus of an elopement is on the personal connection and preferences of you as a couple.

How to plan an Elopement in the Swiss Alps?
Answer: Planning an elopement requires thoughtful consideration. Finding the perfect location, obtaining necessary permits, and coordinating with vendors are essential steps. I’m happy to assist you with my experience! (: Compared to a traditional wedding, an elopement involves significantly less planning and is often much more affordable. It’s a dream come true for adventure and nature lovers. Here’s a full planning guide to help you plan your Elopement in Switzerland.

What are the benefits of an elopement in the mountains for wedding photography?
Answer: The Swiss Alps offer breathtaking natural backdrops, ideal for intimate wedding photography. Pristine nature, majestic mountains, and picturesque locations create a one-of-a-kind atmosphere. I wholeheartedly recommend saying your vows in such a stunning setting—you won’t regret it! To capture the day in its entirety, I suggest both photography and a wedding video.

Is an elopement only for couples who are already married?
Answer: No, an elopement is suitable for all couples, whether they are already married or not. It’s a unique way to share intimate moments and celebrate love. You can combine a traditional wedding with an elopement, just as Leyre and Juan did. They hosted a larger wedding at home in Spain and then took a day to elope at Oeschinensee in Switzerland. They cherished their time together, exchanging vows in private. I thought it was a fantastic solution to celebrate with family and friends while also dedicating time to each other. After all, shouldn’t a wedding include both? (:

How do you choose the perfect location for an elopement?
Answer: The location should reflect your personality and make your hearts beat faster. For example, Rosenlaui was the perfect magical and beautiful setting for one of my couples’ elopements.

Which season is best for an elopement in the Swiss Alps?
Answer: The ideal season depends on your preferences. Do you dream of snowy landscapes, vibrant orange autumn trees with epic fog, or a stunning sunset on a Swiss mountain pass? I’m happy to share my expertise and assist in the planning process. Here’s a guide to find the best location.

How do you handle unpredictable weather during an elopement?
Answer: Flexibility is key. For Angie and Jeremy’s elopement, we were prepared for cold weather and still managed to capture breathtaking photos. A solid Plan B and the right equipment are crucial. Options include having a backup location, a rescheduling date, or simply dancing in the rain. (:

Can an elopement include an after-wedding ceremony?
Answer: Yes, many couples choose an after-wedding (or pre-wedding) ceremony as part of their elopement to exchange vows again or perform special rituals.
